Tour de France comes to Flamingo, Costa Rica
In February I had a great group of guys from france fish with me all week. We caught Dorado, Cubera Snapper, Rooster Fish, and Marlin. Here is one of the guys on a nice 40 lb Rooster Fish, caught on the north west pacific side in a beautiful town called Flamingo, Costa Rica.
The Family with Mr.Trigger of Flamingo, Costa Rica
These guys wanted to come out and just catch fish. So they got on a plane and flew to Flamingo, Costa Rica which is located on the North West pacific side of the country. Well they got what they wanted; in a 6 hour tour they landed 45 Yellow Fin Tuna and one small Dorado. They ate and slept well that night.
Brent and Wahoo
Well an eventful day came about when two Blue Marlin came into the spread and chased the teasers but swam away, then later in the day Brent Adams caught some sushi I mean a 30lb Wahoo of the Catlina islands. The Catalina's are located about 5 miles off Flamingo Costa Rica which is located on the North Pacific side of the country.

Flamingo, Costa Rica Blue Marlin food
This fish would be nice and tasty for a Blue, Black or Striped Marlin it still brought a big smile to this families face when the young girl got it in on 10lb test tackle. Many small fish like this one can be caught along the beautiful North West coast of Flamingo, Costa Rica and can be used as live bait for larger game fish offshore off the coast of Flamingo, Costa Rica. Fish that can be caught offshore here on live bait are Black, Blue, Striped Marlin, Sail Fish, Dorado, Wahoo, Yellow Fin Tuna, and Rooster Fish on the way home near the rocks of Flamingo. All of these fish are a great fight and will be a memory forever.

This is a picture of me on team Chevy Trucks the night before having a camera crew on my boat the next day taking a Top five spot on the FLW Redfish Series on Fox Sports Net. Also I've won numerous Tarpon tournaments on the PTTS tour and other tournament trails. Being in Flamingo, located on the North West side of Costa Rica, It is a whole new fishery here chasing Blue, Black, Striped Marlin, Sail Fish, Dorado, Yellow Fin Tuna, Rooster Fish, Wahoo, Grouper, and Snapper. Fun Time on the water in Flamingo, Costa Rica
Mr. Trigger himself got a day out on the water to get some fish for a Bar-B-Q. Dorado like this one can be found very plentiful up and down the North West coast of Flamingo, Costa Rica. Offshore you have a better chance at a large one also, shots at Black, Blue and Striped Marlin, Tuna, Sail fish, Wahoo. There is an abundance of different species of fish off Flamingo come take a trip with us and have a shot at any one of these monsters.
Big Al with his first Dorado off Flamingo, Costa Rica
One of my long time best friends Al Simontis flew in to see me from Florida. An easy 2 and a half hour flight from Miami Florida to Liberia Costa Rica then a 45 min drive to my home town flamingo located on the north west pacific side of beautiful Costa Rica. Being Al’s first Dorado he was amazed by the power this mid size 40 pound fish could generate on 30lb tackle. Going off shore like Al did on Mr. Trigger you can also get a chance at Wahoo, Tuna, Sail Fish, and the mighty Blue, Black, and Striped marlin. Al also got to see his first Marlin that day grab a 2 foot Dorado right out of the water.

Drew here a new friend of mine came to Costa Rica for the first time with my buddy Al to catch some fish. Being a fisherman back in Florida he was excited knowing there where abundance of Tuna, Wahoo, Dorado (like this one) Sail Fish, and huge Striped, Blue, and Black Marlin off the north west pacific coast of Flaming, Costa Rica. Drew had his hands full with this 35 lb Dorado “I remember him getting a little tired “but as the good angler he was landed the fish no problem.
You got one Al !!!! right off Flamingo, Costa Rica
With Al Simontis being at my 19th birthday seeing me hook my first Sail fish myself, I think he has talked about it since. Well when Al came to visit he caught a Dorado and maybe the fish of his life. This well over 100lb Sailfish was caught 10 miles off the North West coast of flamingo Costa Rica in the Pacific Ocean. This one being the largest of the year, if Al can’t forget mine he will never stop talking about this one. Al, save the pictures to this one man! Sail fish like this one can be caught all year around along the North West pacific coast of flamingo Costa Rica. Amongst the Sail fish, Dorado, Wahoo, Yellow fin tuna, Blue, Black, and Striped Marlin can be found all year long.
Crazy Mr. Trigger and his friend Stripe Marlin off Flamingo, Costa Rica
Being a trade mark of mine jumping in the water with these pelagic fish, this Striper was no different. Strip Marlin can be caught many different ways whether you’re trolling live bait, lures, or bait and switch with teasers they are an amazing fight. Another Sail Fish on Mr. Trigger off the coast of Flamingo, Costa Rica
Sail Fish, like this one along with Blue, Black, and Striped marlin can be caught all year around but in the North West pacific side of Costa Rica the best times of year is March through September to try your skill against these huge pelagic fish. This is 1st mate Evelio Molina landing another Sail Fish on a charter with Mr. Trigger. We special in Sail Fish and Marlin Blue, Black, and Striped but you can also catch Dorado, Wahoo, Yellow Fin tuna and Large Rooster fish on Mr. Trigger.
Circle Hooks and Release a must in Flamingo, Costa Rica
Releasing Sail fish like this one is the law in Costa Rica. At Mr. Trigger charters we take this very seriously and all fish are caught on circle hooks which always manage to hook themselves in the corner of the mouth or the bill. The bill fish we have in the area are Blue, Black, and Striped marlin, and Sailfish like this one Evelio is about to release to fight another day on Mr. Trigger located in flamingo Costa Rica witch is located on the north west side of the country in the province Guanacaste.

Working as the Captain I only get to release a few fish a month so on a day for me we set out and caught 9 sails that day including this one I hooked and released. On Mr. Trigger after fighting a sailfish like this we can show you how to properly release them back to fight again another day. Sail fish are common here all year long and their larger cousins the Black Marlin, Blue Marlin, and Striped Marlin can be caught all the time as well, just have to go with Mr. Trigger and try your skills!
Mr. Trigger favorite fish, Only in Flamingo, Costa Rica
Jason Mr. Trigger Coffrin jumps in with several species but, by far this is his favorite fish to swim with. Stripe Marlin like this one can range in the hundreds of pounds. There cousins the Blue Marlin and the Black Marlin weigh in the 1000’s some ships have to have claimed to see them in the 2000 or 3000 pound range. One day Mr. Trigger will be releasing one of them off the Flamingo coast of Costa Rica located on the North West pacific side of the country.
Pez Bela in Flamingo, Costa Rica aka Sailfish
Off the coast of flamingo, Costa Rica located on the North West side of the country, Pacific Sail fish are the largest of their breed. There two types of sail fish Atlantic and pacific sails. Come take a trip to flamingo Costa Rica and it will be not surprising to catch a Sail fish on Mr. Trigger well over 100 lbs .
Stripe Mullet
Even though we don’t fish for these on tours, Evelio in Flamingo, Costa Rica has been fishing for Stripe Mullet all of his life. Jason Mr. Trigger Coffrin has caught several on the beaches of Flamingo, Costa Rica located on the North West pacific side of the country. Back in Florida Jason Mr. Trigger Coffrin has won several mullet tournaments and fish’s for them a lot with friends Johannes and Alex from boats and walking the beaches.
Unofficial world record Rooster fish Flamingo, Costa Rica
Even though this monster Rooster Fish was not the world record because it was set free to fight again in the waters off Flamingo Costa Rica. This monster weighs in at 150 lbs by scale and was caught by Ron Gauthier the TV host of Ocean Explorer on 30lb power pro. Despite being a monster Roosterfish it ate very small bait, a small finger mullet on light tackle rod. Light tackle is a specialty of Mr. Trigger and crew in Flamingo, Costa Rica whether its, Mighty Roosterfish, Dorado, Yellow fin Tuna, Wahoo, acrobatic Sail fish or the impressive Blue Marlin, Black marlin, or the freakishly fast Striped Marlin all species can be caught by anyone on Mr. Trigger. You might not get a Roosterfish as big as Ron’s but with Mr. Trigger we will have a good chance to catch one off the deep end in Flamingo, Costa Rica located on the North West pacific side of the country.
Son's Pride fathers glory visiting Flamingo, Costa Rica
Even though Dad is in the picture his son fought this fish to the bitter end landing it in no time at all. He wasn’t feeling up to getting in the photo later so dad took the glory. Large Dorado like this 30 pounder can be caught all year around near shore or offshore in beautiful Flamingo, Costa Rica located on the North West Pacific side of the country. The best times for larger numbers in size and quantity can be found from august to November. Other great game fish caught here are Blue marlin, Black Marlin, Striped Marlin, Sailfish, Roosterfish, Wahoo, Yellow fin tuna, Dog Tooth Snapper, and Cubera, Snapper.
Coming and going, traveling to Flamingo, Costa Rica
George has been going back and forth from the United States to Costa Rica for a long time setting his sights on building a house in the beautiful area of Flamingo, Costa Rica, which is located on the north pacific side of the country. George has been fishing here looking for a game fish he can put on the grill. Well he got his wish going on a tour with Mr. Trigger and his crew he got this nice 35 lb Dorado on ballyhoo. Next trip we are taking George for Sailfish and Yellow fin Tuna. While on a trip like that you can catch Blue Marlin, Black marlin, Striped marlin, and Wahoo. Look at this smile he will be back for more dinner!
Let's just go!
Paul and Joe just wanted to catch something. So they booked a trip on Mr. Trigger located in Flamingo, on the North West pacific side of Costa Rica. I asked them what they were interested in catching when I met them the day before, Paul replied let’s just go so we went. After some time on the water Joe released his first sailfish later and then Paul got this amazing 72 pound Dorado on 30 pound tackle caught on a Pelagic Breakfast from Black Bart(small lure). Flamingo, Costa Rica is know in August through November for large Dorado because the mountains are washed out with all the rain and the Dorado are found under logs and other things floating. Other fish you can run into while looking for these Dorado are Blue marlin, Black marlin, Sailfish, Yellow fin Tuna, and Wahoo.
Flamingo, Marina Resort Family Flamingo, Costa Rica
Family member of the Flamingo Marina resort got all he could handle today on a huge Sailfish caught on 30lb tackle. This Sailfish like many on the North west pacific side of Costa Rica in a town called Flamingo can be caught all year long on any give beautiful day. Along with its larger cousin the Marlin, Flamingo, Costa Rica has three different kinds of Marlin the Black Marlin, Blue Marlin, and the Striped Marlin all can be caught here. Along with some of the largest Sailfish and Dorado caught in the world. On this trip there were 11 sighted Sailfish and everyone on the boat got there shot at the title fight.

His biggest fish was a huge king Salmon, well it just got bigger! This gentleman was one of the members of the flamingo, marina resort family that traveled out with Mr. Trigger and got a chance at 11 sails, and avid fisherman up north he never expected to catch a peligic like this. Caught on a naked ballyhoo sailfish like this one roam the surface of the beautiful waters off flamingo Costa Rica in search of flying fish, mullet, ballyhoo, Bonita, small tuna, and other small fish near the surface.
Pura Pesca meet MrTrigger in Flamingo, Costa Rica
This is my favorite trip so far on Mr. Trigger. It was I and two guys from Pura Pesca a very nice fishing store in San Jose Costa Rica. The man in the photo is the regional rep for my area and wanted to do some fishing so I took him out on a 3 hour tour and after the first bait was caught I placed it back in the ocean and 10 minutes later this massive Roosterfish off the cost of Flamingo, Costa Rica ate the bait. 20 minutes later this photo was taken and the fish released to fight another day.

Wolf and Roosterfish, crazy combo in Flamingo, Costa Rica
This picture was taken on an inshore trip with a two friends of mine Jose on the right and front Mystique my good luck charm and fishing companion from Florida. This Rooster was caught on a large blue runner near the coast line near Flamingo, Costa Rica. Roosterfish and other species of fish like Grouper, Cubera Snapper, and Dorado can be caught on an inshore trip on Mr. Trigger in Flamingo, Costa Rica.
2 years strong in Flamingo, Costa Rica

Second trip with results in Flamingo, Costa Rica
Tom here was so amazed at the size of these fish when he saw the first one of 13 for the day. These fish really fight after he released his first Sailfish on camera with video and still photos taken. Sailfish like this one can be caught all year around and are an incredible fish to catch because of the aerial acrobatics they do when hooked. Like there cousin the Blue Marlin, Black Marlin and Striped Marlin, they are one of the prized fish to catch on the North West pacific side of Costa Rica in a small fishing town called Flamingo.
Evelio strikes again
Evelio, Jose and I went out for our birthdays like we always do on the first week of August and this trip we went 87 miles south south west to a hump I found on a map off the coast Flamingo, Costa Rica for 2 days. Day 1 was a 4 to 5 foot waves and 20 mile per hour winds. We fished along the way to the hump catching 11 for 15 Sailfish and getting 4 Striped Marlin to come to the teasers. Evelio is a great 1st mate and a great captain when I'm not able to be there as he proves time and time again. Fish with Evelio or I and you will get the same results.... A great day on the water.
Spaniards take 2
The nice people from Spain decided to take another trip with Mr. Trigger and crew the next day so we headed north along the beautiful pacific coast of Flamingo, Costa Rica to a rock I know of 10 miles offshore. When we got there it was full of bait so we pulled some ballyhoo by and hooked our first Sailfish in about 5 min in 300 feet of water straight off the Flamingo coast. In about 6 hours we released 5 Sailfish and Raised one Blue Marlin. Other fish that can be caught around Flamingo, Costa Rica are Black Marlin, Striped Marlin, Yellow Fin Tuna, Dorado, Wahoo, and the great Rooster Fish. Spaniards go for it
I had a great trip with a couple from Spain that just wanted to go for a little ride around the area and do a little fishing. Later that day I told them that I know where some fishing where. Being there first time on MR. Trigger and the first time being in Flamingo, Costa Rica witch is located on the north west pacific side of the country. They said lets go for it so we got out the gear and went about 8 miles looking for some fish. 10 min later the first Dorado of 10 was caught. It was quite an experience and they had lots of fun. They said to me they would be back for sure to fish another day in beautiful Flamingo, Costa Rica.
For the kids
Sam, Jack and Mathew really had a blast reeling this huge jack Cravelle on 15 lb test line. Kids of all ages as shown here came come fish the rich waters off the coast of Flamingo, Costa Rica. Flamingo located on the North West Pacific side of the country also offers an array of game fish like Blue Marlin, Black Marlin, Striped Marlin, Sailfish, Dorado, Rooster fish, Wahoo, Yellow Fin Tuna, Amber Jack, and Grouper. Helping out
Evelio has become a great 1st mate and Captain when I’m in the states. As seen here Evelio is helping out some young guys on reeling in a nice catch. People come from all over the world to fish with us in Flamingo, Costa Rica. Young and old, experienced or just waiting to see a rod bends. Some of the great game fish Flamingo, Costa Rica has to offer are Blue marlin, Black Marlin, Striped Marlin, Sailfish, Dorado, Rooster Fish, Amber Jack, Wahoo, Yellow Fin Tuna, and Grouper. These days Sailfish are a common on Mr. Trigger Sport fishing. We release more Sailfish then any other Sport fishing boat in the area. We take a lot of pride catching and releasing these monster of a fish so other people can come with us another day and have the same fun catching these beautiful fish!

Linda here has caught fish with Mr. Trigger Sport fishing before. 50 lb Roosterfish to be exact but, this trip she caught dinner. Dorado like this one can be a great meal on the dinner table or, a great live bait for a large Stripe Marlin, Blue Marlin, or Black Marlin in Flamingo, Costa Rica offshore waters.

Being a part of the Bill Fish Foundation we are very strong on catch and release at Mr. Trigger Sport fishing on the Flamingo, Costa Rica coast. All bill fish like Sailfish, Black Marlin (like this one pictured here) Blue Marlin and Striped Marlin are released with no exceptions.
Black Marlin Jaco Costa Rica
Well to my delight I got to get David and Linda out again in 2009! As we left the marina David asked me if we could get a Black Marlin this time since we caught 7 Sailfish and 4 Roosters the year before. I kind of laughed and said lets give it a try. Three hours later after the 2nd Sailfish was released we hooked this 500lb Black Marlin and released it in 1 hour and 45 minutes. WOW Here in Flamingo Costa Rica Mr. Trigger Sport Fishing can hook you up with Blue Marlin, Stripe Marlin, Dorado, Yellow fin tuna Roosterfish, and Wahoo all year around.

This close encounter out ran the Mr Trigger and almost took a seat next to the angler! This was for sure an over sized Stripe Marlin for the Carrillo area but was released unharmed to fight again another day!
Carrillo Stripes
Stripe Marlin are like a Sail fish on a sugar high, they come in the spread smacking everything and as soon as they appear they are gone. This one around 90 pounds got a circle hook but was released unharmed.
